A deck that focuses on black and red mana, such as a Rakdos deck, would benefit from using Akoum Refuge as it provides both colors of mana and a small life gain bonus upon entering the battlefield. However, there are better dual lands available in Magic: The Gathering, such as Blood Crypt or Dragonskull Summit, which come into play untapped and provide both colors of mana without the life gain drawback. Akoum Refuge could see play in budget decks or casual formats, but competitive decks would likely opt for more efficient dual lands.
