The Benevolent Ancestor card would be beneficial in a defensive white deck focused on stalling the game and protecting key creatures or the player's life total. While it offers a valuable ability to prevent damage, there are better options like Wall of Omens or Wall of Reverence that provide additional benefits such as card draw or lifegain. While Benevolent Ancestor may not be a top-tier card, it could see play in a budget or casual deck where its abilities align with the strategy.

If the target would be dealt damage by multiple sources at once, that player or that permanent’s controller chooses one of those sources at the time damage would be dealt, and 1 of that damage from that source is prevented.
